Josh Perry's bold and brave works, created primarily in a monochromatic scheme, display an energy and verve that is instantly recognizable, even within the abstraction of the compositions he creates.

The dynamic blacks, circles and ink drips might at first glance bring to mind Robert Motherwell, but Perry has his own take on the work he produces. Many of his drawings appear to be handwritten letters, with dark ink smudged, poured or smeared over obscured sentences, with scrawls and swirls throughout. They remain curious communications, possibly echoing the way many of us say one thing, but mean another.
